Five interface mistakes that quietly cost conversions

Measurable UI/UX design anti-patterns that degrade user conversion rates, along with practical engineering fixes you can implement immediately.

1. Premature inline field validation

Displaying an email format error on the third character penalizes users before they complete input. Validate input fields on `blur` or after a keypress pause. This single modification noticeably lowers form abandonment rates.

2. Competing visual hierarchy on CTAs

Rendering two call-to-action buttons with identical weight, color, and padding divides user attention and lowers conversion on both. Establish clear primary actions with solid brand fills while styling secondary actions with subtle outlines.

3. Ambiguous 'Learn More' microcopy

Generic CTA labels fail to communicate value or next steps. Replace passive copy with descriptive action phrases: 'View Pricing Architecture', 'Read Case Study', or 'Book 20-Minute Technical Call'.

This is the work behind our design practice — UX, design systems, and motion built into the engagement from day one rather than bolted on after the architecture is set.
